Tucson Real Estate

There are several areas of Tucson worthy of note. Western Tucson is nestled in the Tucson Mountain Range west of I-10. The downtown area is about 30 square blocks in the center of town. The Northwest area surrounds Pusch Ridge of the Catalina Mountain Range. The Northeast area is located in the foothills of the Catalina Mountain Range around Sabino Canyon. The South Central area is south of downtown down to the airport and the Indian Reservation around San Xavier cathedral. By far the largest part of Tucson is the Southeast area covering the western foothills of the Rincon Mountain Range down to the foothills of the Santa Rita Mountain Range.

The types of homes range from multifamily homes and 1930s bungalows downtown, tightly packed subdivisions in the Northwest and Southeast to the large homes in the Northeast foothills and the West and the Mega Mansions on Pusch Ridge and in the Catalina foothills in the northernmost part of the city. There are some lovely 1950s style ranch house neighborhoods, with the large plots of land in the downtown and Southeast areas that seem to be out of style with the new postage stamp lots springing up all over Tucson.

Very few houses use traditional lawns because of the water and the heat situation in Tucson. But some lots have tiny plots of cool grass that people can sink their feet into. Xeriscape, or a lot dominated by different sizes and colors of gravel and drought tolerant native plants, is the basic outdoor decor. Many neighborhoods have houses with pools as one can imagine. This is evident from a flyover of the city where tiny blue circles dominate certain areas. Tucson has every imaginable type of home and the city is cosmopolitan while keeping the intimacy of a small city outpost in the Wild West.
